Substance use in Acquired Brain Injury (suABI)
Substance use disorder (SUD) and acquired brain injury (ABI) are leading causes of disability among Australians. Our international team of clinician researchers and individuals with lived experience have co-designed a new technology-enhanced substance use program tailored to the unique needs of individuals with with a brain injury. It is called biSCOF, which stands for bioSocial Cognitive model of Occupational Functioning. In biSCOF therapy, a psychologist and occupational therapist work to help someone identify and better manage the ways in which substance use affects their engagement in meaningful occupation and pursuit of personally meaningful goals.Â
